Which Boundaries Allow Your Life to Be More Expansive?

Hi leaders,

There’s been a heatwave these last few days, and I am trying to stay cool. I hope you are staying cool as well.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how so much of life is outside one’s control and what people do to cope with that fact.

As an example, every summer, there are a plethora of activities I want to do, and, if I’m not careful, I can find myself burnt out trying to do everything, going to every event, saying yes to every social opportunity. What’s worse is I don’t actually know which things will be energizing and which will be draining.

Leader reflecting on healthy boundaries, intentional living, and creating space for unexpected opportunities.

I can rack my brain and do all the planning and come up with the perfect schedule, but often the experiences that bring me life and a new perspective are things I didn’t know I needed.

Here’s this month’s reflection question:

Which boundaries allow your life to be more expansive, and which ones limit you?

The truth is that every person needs boundaries but also needs to know that the most interesting and exciting opportunities in their life will be from things that slip past those boundaries. Boundaries allow us to protect time, energy, and priorities, but we also need to be flexible enough to allow the magic of the universe to offer me things beyond my knowing.

This means I’ve been thinking about the above question and trying to say no to things, so I can plan in time for the unexpected. A little paradox that has been fun to live in for the summer. I hope you get a chance to live in it too.

Happy to be leading with you,

Ashlee
