Team Workshop “Enneagram as a Map | Track A”

Enneaflip & Nine Shapes Conversational Cards for each person on team

This team is high performing and moves quick! They had already gone through a handful of training sessions with other coaching/consulting agencies, but felt they didn’t get to the root of deeper, more authentic communication amongst one another.

The other agencies had “one size fits all” kind of training and it felt like an inefficient use of time.

For a team that puts in passion, extra effort in all they do, and to be frank have a lot on their plate in making positive change in America, they needed an intentional space to learn something different, connect with one another, and speak openly. When 8 hours is allotted, the time spent has to be thoughtfully planned out. That is what we did. Their new team manager, Monisha, decided to host a team retreat. Insightful as she was, she thought the Enneagram would be a helpful tool in giving language for her team to understand one another better.

She opted into a full day Enneagram Team Workshop. Sway’s CEO, Ashlee, and Monisha co-developed a team survey to send out. Each person had to take the survey before coming to the workshop where they gained new information about their team. The surveys answered questions like, “How content are you at work?” and “What is our team’s biggest obstacle in reaching our full potential?” She was the type of leader who didn’t avoid these questions, but genuinely wanted an answer.

That is what made her team successful.

After the survey results came in, our workshop goal was to connect the Everytown States Team using the enneagram as a framework for deeper understanding of both self and others.

And that was the result. The 8 hours flew by and everyone left not wanting to leave, even though it was a Friday, virtual event. The team spoke openly admitting they wanted more spaces like this to address things candidly and to teach their teammates how to work best with them.

Afterward the team creatively came up with the idea to have monthly Happy Hours where they play Nine Shapes - an interactive way to keep the Enneagram knowledge and connection alive.

“I appreciated that the Sway workshop space illuminated our differences, but also highlighted that we are actually much more alike than we thought. There is a spectrum of personality and we got to see how our team is on that spectrum based on similarities over more obvious differences.”
