FAQs

What is coaching?

Coaching is about propelling forward in any area of your work and life; from making a decision to shifting your perspective on an issue. Coaching is also client-centered, meaning you, the client, do the work. Statistics say that 80% of the time people successfully accomplish ideas they create compared to the much smaller success rate of coaching styles that informs individuals what to do. Sway Leadership coaching believes you know what will work best for you and that ultimately, you have the answers to live your own life successfully. Our coaches follow the International Coaching Federation (ICF) guidelines, the gold star licensing body of coaching.

Who is coaching for?

Leaders are found everywhere in your company, not just in a management position. Coaching is for people who are competent, self-aware, and desire to get to the next level of success, and who want to become change agents in any company or community they are a part of. If you are desiring a change in an area of your life and work, you are a candidate for coaching. Here are some items people receive coaching for:

  • Transitions

  • Career shifts

  • Relational conflicts (Colleagues, friends, etc.)

  • Personal and professional goals you want to accomplish

  • Feeling stuck

What does a coach do?

Sway Leadership coaching honors the client as a competent and capable person in life and work. We believe that people are creative, resourceful, and whole. With that lens, we will ask open-ended questions to assist our clients in discovery and clarity. Coaching can empower the client to align with what they want to achieve. Coaching elicits client-generated solutions and strategies, which ultimately have the best outcomes.

How would coaching help my organization?

Companies are invited to enter into a collaborative and holistic leadership coaching process at all levels of your company. These sessions can help leaders sift through any company culture, including any toxic trends as well as invite individuals to be introspective. Through coaching, team culture can be transformed into a positive, even family-like, atmosphere. Coworkers can work together more fluidly with a desire to understand one another. Coaching can enable employees to be more content with their work ultimately creating a company culture that is invaluable. In addition, ICF reported in 2015 that 57% of companies who embraced a coaching culture produced more revenue.

What will I get out of coaching?

You ultimately have the ability to choose what you get out of coaching meaning, you will get out as much as you put into it. Like many other forms of growth in life, when you show up fully, the outcome is much richer. In coaching, we have seen clients produce: greater self-awareness, the ability to create and take advantage of an opportunity as well as begin to create the type of future one most desires.

What about the client?

The client chooses the agenda, meaning you get to select the coaching topic you would like to work through. Clients design, collaboratively with their coach, a plan of action. Coaching can be an ongoing process, but it may also be a few sessions. We discuss what would be the best fit for the client’s needs.

How is coaching different from counseling?

Coaching works in the present day to create the type of future you want. Past experiences may come up in coaching, as it can be necessary, but working through past issues is not the primary focus. Coaching is about building and strengthening what you already possess; it gives you a vision for the future.
